Dagens *manipulated* Nyheter strikes again

In the latest opinion polls the Sweden Democrats have reached almost 18% and journalists are getting desperate.

The latest article about one of the partys top men; Björn Söder; was given the provocative name: Jews aren’t Swedish/The Smiling Nationalism. To give off the “Hitler-Aryan vibe” his eyes have been photoshopped in one of the banners which you can see above. This is perhaps meant to bring thoughts to the the propaganda show Blå Ögon wherein the right-wing antagonists have blue eyes.

At the time of writing the article has 28000+ shares on facebook and 949 tweets. The Sweden Democrats are bound to lose a couple of percentage points and the media is bound to get more aggressive in the next few months leading up to the re-election. What did Björn Söder say to make this headline possible?

“Can’t you be both Jewish and Swedish, simultaneously?

I think that most people of Jewish origin that have become Swedes leave their Jewish identity. But if they chose not to it doesn’t need to be a problem. One needs to differentiate between citizenship and national identity. They can still be Swedish citizens and live in Sweden. Sami people and Jews have lived in Sweden for a long time.”

– From the article: Smiling nationalism / Björn Söder: Jews aren’t Swedish – Dagens Nyheter: 2014-12-14

The newspaper has been in the spotlight for half-truths previously with gems such as:

Immigration is profitable for the British(If you discount non-European immigration)

Earns more than half a billion on immigration(If government and county costs are excluded)

SD-proposal: Immigrants must swear fealty to the King (as a part of a citizenship test)

On a side note: considering Dagens Nyheters track record it was incredibly foolhardy for Björn Söder to answer such sensitive questions or allow an interview to take place at all.

A wise man once said:

If people in the media cannot decide whether they are in the business of reporting news or manufacturing propaganda, it is all the more important that the public understand that difference, and choose their news sources accordingly.

Thomas Sowell (1930-?)
